Passion

Take one new year.
Subtract resolutions that don’t work.
Add several of artists’ blogs.
Combine with a splash of an inspirational idea.
Bake for a few quiet days.
Voila!
This year I will live with the word “passion.”
I am reminded of the work I did a few years ago in an Iron Pentacle class with the points of Sex, Pride, Self, Power, and Passion.
I notice that I have more unhappy days than happy days, even though when I stop to take a look around, my life is pretty great.
I wonder what I am passionate about and how I can stir up and nurture passion in my life.
I pull up some great quotes about passion as a touchstone. Right now, this one is speaking strongly to me.
What is passion? It is surely the becoming of a person. Are we not, for most of our lives, marking time? Most of our being is at rest, unlived…The more extreme and the more expressed that passion is, the more unbearable does life seem without it. It reminds us that if passion dies or is denied, we are partly dead and that soon, come what may, we will be wholly so.
—John Boorman (b. 1933), British filmmaker
Add in another idea from Elena at Lunar Musings to create a a vision board to provide a visual focus for my little piece of magic. I’m going to work on that over the next week.
And of course, I will share my journey with you.

Is this the word the name you chose at my Rosh Hashanah ritual? I’m curious if there is any connection. My name/word for the year is HARVEST! Yes, it’s the translation of my Hebrew name and my goal is to embody this name on several levels. This is the year of harvesting, not just planting!

Embarrassingly enough, I don’t remember if I picked a word at Rosh Hashanah.
